In Memory Of Abraham Lincoln

As a young child life was hard as a framer. He had to do a lot of work outside the house and help his father work and feed the family. He lived in a one room log cabin. At age 23, with an unsuccessful campaign for the Illinois General Assembly, as a member of the Whig Party. In 1834, he won election to the state legislature, and, after coming across the Commentaries on the Laws of England, began to teach himself law. Became President of the United States in 1860. The Civil War broke out soon after he was elected. In 1863 Lincoln, had freed most slaves. Relected in 1864, and soon after slavery became illegal in 1865. He was shot in the back of his head on April 14, 1865 by John Wilkes Booth in Ford Theather in Washington, D.C. He was 56yrs old.
