Sorrow for the Angels  by Diane Hipsher

I was meditating in prayer one night
when a vision of angels caught my sight.
And I started to sorrow for these heavenly hosts
made to serve Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
They've never felt the comfort of a mother's womb,
nor will hear sweet words spoken over their tomb.
They won't drive a car or live in a house,
or share their life with a chosen spouse.
Never to feel the flutter of a baby's kick
under Daddy's hand while finding names to pick.
They have no shoes to cover their feet
as they walk the yellow gold paved streets.
How can an angel have some fun
when there's always so much work to be done?
Delivering messages of hope, love and joy;
listening to the prayers of each girl and boy.
Taking folks to their final reward;
speaking face to face with the LORD.
Looking after the world when our God we forsook;
and writing down each Christians' name in a book.
They're waiting patiently for that one fine day
when at last the Lord our God will say;
"It's time for my saints to gather up here"
and to us here on earth the Lord will appear
and we'll leave our old bodies to meet the great "I AM"
to feast at the marriage supper of the lamb.
Through the pearly gates to our mansions prepared;
then we will see how each person has fared.
We'll never again know anger or fear.
Death will be defeated, God will wipe away each tear.
When all this is done with the angels we'll sing
praises for salvation that the Lord did bring.
We'll be like the angels as the good book does say.
If we will but choose the narrow way.
No more cares or worries; our needs will be met.
The shed blood of Jesus will pay for sin's debt.
Then I thought once more of the angels and now I see,
it's really the angels that sorrow for me.
