A Poem for My Mother There is nothing in this universe that is stronger than a mother’s love and affection. A mother is the most saintly person, supplying her child with protection. A mother would walk through the desert, with no food or water to drink, if it meant that her child would have safety. And she does so with chastened instinct. Out in a bone-chilling blizzard, a mother would shad her last clothing sacrificing, so that her child is warm. To give her own life without loathing, And do so while displaying benevolent charm. Through all of life’s trials and tribulations A mother will always make time To see that her next generation has got what it needs to survive A mother will complicate her own life so her children can have it a little easier And she’ll never ever stop loving She is a vision of salvation as we see her. When her child moves a thousand miles away She never stops worrying And when her child goes astray She never stops praying When the child comes back from desertion, She gives him open arms of assertion. A mother provides most of life’s lessons And forever gives her child her blessings. I am a man with a rugged exterior, But sometimes my feelings are inferior Cuz of the child interior, Who sometimes acts so superior. And tries to display this demeanor, without looking to the holy redeemer. Like Moses who parted the ocean, You’ve showed me an unending devotion. Despite all of my ill chosen mistakes You put aside your hurts and heartaches And let me back into your world. Like a clam contains an exquisite pearl Inside you is a heart with a gem. I guess there is one thing then That I’ve inherited from you And I’m proud that you’re my mother And I’ll say it out loud I’ll always love my mama She’s my favorite girl. She’ll have a place in my heart till the very end of this world

Grandma There's magic in a Grandmother's touch, And sunshine in her smile. There's love in everything she does To make our lives worthwhile. No farewell words were spoken, No time to say goodbye, You were gone before we knew it, And only God knows why. If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.
We can find both hope and courage Just by looking in her eyes. Her laughter is a source of joy, Her words are warm and wise, Well most of the time.
Everyone has their time But why did yours have to come so soon? There are so many people in the world So why did God have to pick you?
They say things like this makes you stronger But how can that be? I feel so weak inside It all feels like a dream I didn't get to see you You passed away too soon But I feel you watching over me And someday I'll see you soon There is a kindness and compassion To be found in her embrace, And we see the light of heaven Shining from a Grandmother's face. There’s nothing I could say to bring you back So I’ll leave you with this final thought, Thank you for all of the fun times you brought You are truly the best and for that we are all truly blessed And always know you are the one on all of our thoughts. I love you and get your rest. By Mellisa Mayo
