In Memory Of Aurelia (Nier) Lanier Kendall (née Shearin)
Survived By: Daughter, Adrienne Hamilton of Scottsdale, AZ; 2 Grandchildren, Briana and Geoffrey Hamilton; Sister, Josephine Strayhorne of Durham, NC, Sister-in-law, Jean Richardson of NY; Brother-in-law, Walker Williams of McLean, VA; Brother-in-law, Ernest McRae of NY, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Lanier graduated from Hilllside High School in 1944 and received her college degree from North Carolina Central Univ in 1948.  She moved to New York shortly thereafter where she lived for over 25 years with her husband, William Kendall of Badin who died in 1977.

She returned to Durham in 1977 and taught in the Durham School system until her retirement in 19XX.  She was an avid lover of music and enjoyed playing the piano and teaching music to her elementary and junior high school students.

At Carver Living Center, she was loved by the nurses and aides who handled her care.  She was remembered as always smiling and greeting everyone.  Although she was unable to relate to current events, or follow a TV show, she never lost her connection with music.  When-ever she heard the sound of music, she would tap her hands to the beat, relishing in the sound.  She especially loved Gospel music (songs for the Lord).

May our loving God bless her and may she rest in peace until our Lord's return.
