Obituary

BRADELY ALDEN SPENCER

12/4/1923-2/24/2010

Bradley Alden Spencer went to be with the Lord on 24 February 2010. Born on December 4, 1923 to Archie and Hazel Spencer in Greenwich, Connecticut, he was the older brother to Ken and Norm.  He spent most of his younger years in the Rye, NY area until he enlisted in the Marines in 1942. Brad served in the Pacific Campaign in places like Iwo Jima and Guadalcanal, later in Korea and two tours in Viet Nam, retiring in September 1967 as a Marine Master Sergeant.  He married Elizabeth (Bette) Jane Reilly in 1945 and enjoyed 48 years together before she passed away in 1993. Brad was well known throughout the years as an amateur artist with an emphasis on water color landscapes. In his later years his interests turned to rubber stamping and helping with the Military Outreach Ministry (MOM), an organization serving young Marine families. These later years also found him with a renewed interest and commitment to his Lord Jesus.  He regularly attended the Grace Presbyterian Church in Temecula.

Brad is survived by his sister-in-laws Reba Spencer of N Syracuse, N.Y. and Sally Spencer of Derry, N.H.; by five adult children, Wayne and Nancy Spencer of Fallbrook CA, Don Spencer of Federal Way, WA, Keith and Janie Spencer of Missoula, MT, Peggy and Rob Harris of San Diego, CA, Jim and Denise Spencer of Springfield VA and by 12 grandchildren and 4 great grand-children. Another member of the Greatest Generation has packed his sea bag, saluted smartly and left the world a better place for us. He fought the good fight, has run the race and now wears the crown of glory. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on 6 March 2010 at 10:30 am at Grace Presbyterian Church, 31143 Nicolas Rd. Temecula CA.  Since his favorite memories were of his time in Hawaii, Hawaiian dress is encouraged at the memorial service. A family only graveside dedication will follow at the Riverside National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in his name to: Military Outreach Ministry, PO Box 9000-906, Camp Pendleton, CA 92051, 760-763-7394. or to; Wounded Warrior Project, 7020 A C Skinner Pkwy, Ste 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256
