In Memory Of Greyling William Betz

Greyling Betz, a father, a son, a brother, and a friend to so many was killed Jan. 4th 2007.  There are so many different stories going around that I refuse to write any of them at this time.  It doesn't matter anyway because the final outcome will never be changed.  Greyling is gone and his life was taken much to soon.  He had so many years left to enjoy, and enjoying them was what he did.  Never have I seen a person so positive about life.  He used to always say that "life was good" and I always just kind of laughed about it, but he meant it.  In his opinion life was good.  He had his family, loving and caring people who would do anything for anyone, his son who he was so proud of and who he enjoyed spending his time with.  Then he had his friends, not a lot of friends, but there were a few that he remained close to.  Then unfortunately there were those who pretended to be his friends who I believe eventually led him to his death.  Greyling trusted just about everybody and would go out of his way to help you out if you needed help.  It is just leaves me with out words when I try to think why somebody would ever have wanted to take his life.  I dont know how one could live with themselves for doing such a vicious thing to somebody. 

Greyling was a smart, gentle, caring, funny individual who just had such an energy all around him.  It was hard not to feel the positiveness that came just from being near him.  He was my very close friend, someone who I communicated with nearly every single day.  I knew from the beginning that things just werent right when I went to his residence and he wasn't there.  But at the time we were only friends so he didn't really owe me any explaination as to where he was.  I kept checking back and still nothing. I tried to justify him being gone to myself so I didnt get all upset and create a havoc for no reason.  I mean last he had said to me was that he was going to a concert with his friend. So if anything happened then his "friend" would have surely notified someone right?  Wrong....his parents werent even told he was missing until a week later. Boy with friends like that who needs enemies??  Regardless, that is why I am not believing the story about the carjacking...friends dont do friends that way.  Nobody in their right mind would leave a friend and come all the way home and wait a week before they told the persons family.  Most would report it the second they crossed over into the United States. 

Like I said I will never understand why this had to happen and it is so unfair.  Unfair that these type of people run loose everywhere...unfair that he became a victim at the hands of somebody he trusted, and unfair because we are left here without somebody who meant the world to us.  We will probably never get the proper closure we deserve, and that would be seeing the guilty person or persons involved punished.  I know that there is somebody out there with answers that could solve this case and I am asking you to please come forward and help us.  Greyling did not deserve to die like this, his family did not deserve this and neither did his friends.  I will never forget the man who made such a difference in my life as I'm sure many others wont either, I am thankful for the years I was able to spend with Greyling years that noone can take away.  He may be gone from this world but his memory will be with me forever.  I will always love and miss you GWB.....
