Dear family of little Isabella, I am so very sorry for your loss. For the majority, the death of a wife, a husband, or a child can be the most upsetting experience of a lifetime. People’s entire emotional makeup is often jarred for a long time after the death of a person dearly loved.
Know first that God did not want your child to die. God does not take delight even in the destruction of the wicked, let alone the death of a child. (Compare 2 Peter 3:9.) Surely, he is deeply pained when a child dies. After all, we feel the tragedy of death only because we are able to love, to feel for its victims. And we are able to love only because we are made in God’s image. We reflect God’s perfect ability to love, even though weakly at best. (Genesis 1:26; 1 John 4:8)
When death strikes a child, friends of the bereaved family may try to comfort them by saying, "God must have needed another angel in heaven." Does that sound reasonable to you? If it were true that God casuses children to die because he needs more angels in heaven, it would imply that he is unfeeling, even cruel. The Bible says otherwise. (Job 34:10) A compassionate father would not snatch a child away from its parents just so that he could enlarge his own family. God's great love would never permit him to act in such a harsh way. Children are gifts from God, essential to his original purpose of filling the earth with a righteous human family. He never purposed for children to have their life cut short and then for them to be transformed into spirit creatures. Would our God of love take back a gift that he has given parents? Surely not!! A child's untimely death brings great sadness, hurt, and pain. What hope, then, do grieving parents have? The Bible promises that God will resurrect countless millions in a paradise right here on earth. Imagine children-restored with healthy bodies-reunited with their loved ones. (John 5:28,29)
The Creator has a purpose for the earth and for mankind upon it. He wants you to understand this purpose and enjoy everlasting life in Paradise on earth. (Psalm 37:10, 11, 29)
Is not that a wonderful expectation? Imagine your beloved Isabella restored to life on earth under grand conditions! A whole new future thus opens up for vast multitudes who have gone into the sleep of death.
