John Derochea
Survived By: Daughters Marie Derochea and Tanya Gadsby

John died suddenly on September 29th at 71 years old, a day after my birthday. He was a person who everyone loved being with, always laughing and never a bad word said about anyone, everywhere he went, people lit up when they saw him. my sisters and I called him papa smurf. He was a wonderful dad to us and was also our buddy. He was married to my mother in 1959 and had three daughters, Marie, Cheryl and Tanya (I'm the 3rd). On April 8th 2002 he lost his second daughter to homicide, and on March 9th 2004 lost his wife Cindy to liver cirrhosis. Over the last ten years he suffered a heart attack and stroke that left his vision impaired, he also had asbestosis from serving in the Navy and lost half a lung in the 80's. His lungs got weaker and he was on oxygen for the last 5 years. My father also leaves behind three grandsons (children of my deceased sister Cheryl) and one great grandson who he really enjoyed. My father was a very special person in many lives, we are devastated that he is no longer with us and will always miss him terribly

DON'T GRIEVE FOR ME

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free

I'm following the path God laid for me.

I took his hand when I heard him call,

I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,

To laugh, to love, to work or play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way,

I found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,

Then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,

Ah yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life's been full, I've savored much;

Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,

Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your hearts and share with me,

God wanted me now, He set me free.
