Judith was born in Sacramento, Ca. and spent her youth growing up in Sacramento, Camp Pendleton, Oahu and San Francisco where she graduated from Mission High School in 1964.
Judi was an instant friend to almost everyone she met. She acquired many lifelong friends through in home babysitting while a stay at home mom raising her three beloved children and being a "second mom" to their friends. She instilled her gentle love for children and animals into many of those who grew up in and about her home. After her children were safely grown, she embraced her love of animals by learning the art of grooming all breeds of dogs and enjoyed a successful career as a groomer for many years. She volunteered at the SPCA in Dublin, Ca bathing and grooming matted and mottled mutts to make them presentable for adoption.
Later in life she discovered a talent for painting with acrylics, and her canvas creations live on as cherished reminders of her. She painted murals on large flowerpots and donated many of them for auction to benefit Childrens' Hospital. Judi enjoyed working in her flower garden. Her yard abounds with rose bushes, many of which were lovingly nurtured from a cutting each with a story about its origin. She was friends with all creatures passing through or around her garden, feeding the raccoon, filling the pond for the frogs, making sure a cat didn't go hungry. Judi enjoyed many of life's simple pleasures..a shopping spree at the second hand store, an ice crème cone with a friend, being "Aunt Judi" to the neighborhood children.
She held deep Christian beliefs, studied the holy bible and had an uncompromising love for God. Her religious conviction provided her great strength as she bravely combated a blood disease and immune system disorder, remaining optimistic and cheerful throughout, until her Lord called her to be with him on Wednesday April 29, 2009.
She is deeply loved and missed by her husband Dale, daughters Dariea "Dottie" (Hardeman) Holmes of Ventura, Jori (Hardeman) Nunes of Ripon, her son Grant Lawrence of Elk Grove and eight grandchildren. Jacob, the eighth grandchild, never got to meet his grandma but we know he has a very special angel looking over him. She also leaves behind her brother John Feagin of Maryland, sisters MaryAnne Overton of Clear Lake Oaks, Patti Vallejo of Roseville and Pamela Burts of Fresno along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Michael Feagin of Porterville.
Go with God, our beloved angel, until we are with you again. |

Mom - last night I couldn't sleep at all and thought of you the entire night - stayed up until 4am - I thought of all of the things we talked about the morning of the day you passed away and what great advice that you gave - I think that this past two years just like you said - were very difficult - but everything in my life is getting better and I ALWAYS think of the words you gave me letting me know that it would be tough but that everything would be ok. You are very loved and missed. Charlie ... » read more

I Just found out about Judy's death, and I am stunned. Growing up, I would always go over to her house to hang out while she groomed my dog. She even allowed me to help her and taught me a thing or two about grooming. I used to love going to her house, and it was always a magical place for me. I am deeply saddened by her death but I know she is in a better place. I am thankful to have had her in my life, and her generosity and kindness towards me will always be remembered.

We just found out Judi had gone home to be with the Lord in April. This doesn't mean we won't miss her. She was a sweet and friendly neighbor and friend. We lost contact as folks often do when neighbor or family moves far away. Judi is a great wife and wonderful mom. I'm sure being a grandmother was her delight. For now we can only send our thoughts, prayers, and heartfelt love to Dale, Dottie, Jori and Grant and their precious families. Our prayer is healing has begun to touch each of you wit... » read more

Mom, I miss you so much. I have had a hard time still dealing with your death. I still can't believe you are gone. I'm very grateful for the conversations we had the morning of the day you passed. I will never forget how life altering it was, the words you said. Any ways, I love you and miss you terribly. I wish you were still here :(

Judy-
I remember how you were always there to watch over me and my brother and sister-I'll never forget your love and kindness that you showed everyday!!! I think its because of you that I don't cuss to this day!!(remembering the time you washed my mouth out with soap for accidently swearing)-It was great to be able to repay in some way and watch Ryan when he was a baby-You will be missed

Dear judy-youve been on my heart lately and now I know why. Thank you for being such a great, loving caregiver to my four children. I really appreciate all you did for them with so very little pay. When my time comes I look forward to seeing you again. Love-martha spogen

Hi judy! You watched me when I was 4-? And I want u to know how much I loved you. You held me grant and my siblings in your arms when I ran from a kidnapper and I will never ever ever 4 get u. You've always held a special place in my heart. I remeber how tightly you held all 3 or 4 kids that day and it will always amaze me how BIG your arms were to hold all of us so tight and close. You told me how proud u were of us; you were a mother to me and I will cherish that time forever! Love-mandy sloan... » read more
