Ledonia "Mae" Smith was born to Vivian and Vernon Robinson on January 10, 1931 in Greenville,Texas. The family moved to Eloy, Arizona in 1945. Ledonia worked as an Operative Nurse for 10 years. She married Joseph Smith in 1951 who has preceeded her in death . She recevied the Baptism of the Holy Ghost under Bishop Felton King and later became an active member of The House of Prayer C.O.G.I.C. under Bishop George Johnson.
At House of Prayer she and her sister Dorothy Washington was known for their delicious church dinners and baking cakes and pies. In 1976, she moved her family to Fresno, Ca. where she became a member of Fresno Temple C.O.G.I.C.. Ledonia created many lasting Friendshps and became a second Mother/Grandmother to alot of the neighborhood kids. She was also a true confidant to her friends. She spoke truth and honesty and was always about keeping the peace. Family called her "Mae" and some even called her "Clousey Mae". She was always for the kids, taking in many of her childrens friends under her wing and loving them and caring for them as if they were her own. If you needed a meal or a place to stay her door was always open. She was the queen of Hospitality.
No matter how crowded things were she still had room. She not only was she full of Godly wisdom, but she spoke peace into everyone she encountered. Her Favorite saying was "Keep the Peace". She loved fishing, playing solitaire and traveling with her grandchildren all over the country. She embraced them and made sure that they knew that she loved them with all of her heart. Mae was about family and that no matter what, she was going to stick by them. Her seven Children Shirley, Vivian, Shephard, Kathy, Birdie, Timothy and Sarah are all a loving reflection of their mother and have been taught by a her on how to call on the Lord name.
She loved her one and only sister Dorothy and her 5 brothers Boise, Cj, Clarence, Carl and Benny and was considered a mother to their children also. Mae is a legend and will forever be remembered for her beauty, grace and the love that she showed to everyone she encountered. God truly blessed us all to be a part of her life and have her affect our lives in way that no other human possibly could. Although, she has gone home to her resting place with the lord she will be always be apart of our lives and our future.
