from Summerfield NC
Lew was a funny, funny gentleman who happened to be a great ballplayer. I think of him and Mary Ann often and the fun we had on various trips raising money with other former major league players for charities.
He and Spahn together should have had their own late night talk show. They could entertain for 18 holes or 18 hours.........whatever came first.
I miss both of them with warm and happy memories....

Lew Burdette,
I know I never met you, and I regret it. Even though you may have never known we were related, it would have been really cool to have met you at least once. I send my condolences to the rest of your family and I apologize for waiting this long to write in the book. You were an amazing guy Lew.,
Rest in peace,
Alex Burdette

She also said she remembered that it was Lew Burdette who did so much to stop the Yankees...

Lew was one of my childhood heros. My dad was born in Davey WV in 1903 and I always thought I was kin to Lew in some way. I loved ball and played organized ball in some fashion from age 7 to 29. I still can remember the Braves 57 starting line up to this day...those were the days.
