Rev. Dr. Robert Lawrence of Fort Pierce, FL peacefully departed this life at his residence, surrounded by the love of his family on November 30, 2011.

He was born on October 3, 1933 in Millen, Ga.

He was a resident of Fort Pierce for 55 years coming from Brunwick, Ga. When he moved to Fort Pierce in 1957, he connected with St. Mark Muissionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Evans. He later moved over to Mt. Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church of which the late Rev. Kilpatrick was the pastor. There he served as a deacon. He was called to preach in 1966 and after that he became the Pastor of Zion Hope Missionary Baptist. He also proved to be a great community leader, receiving many accolades. He also received an honorary Doctor of Divinty Degree from Central East School of Religion, Dallas Texas for church and community works.

Other outstanding accomplishments include serving as the Most Worshipful Master of Lodge Mt. Moriah #96 ; president of the Afro-American Council of Ministers for twenty-five years. Under his leadership, the group started a project of feeding the hungry at Christmas time. His parents preceded him in death as well as eleven siblings; Mae Lee Walker, Ruby Herrington, Eula Wilcox, Lula Mae Jenkins, Cornelius Lawrence, James Lawrence, Vanderbilt Lawrence, Matthew Lawrence, Jack Lawrence, Harry Lawrence and Beatrice Reid.

Surviors include: His wife of 56 years: Mother Inez Lawrence of Ft. Pierce, Fl. Children: Paul Lawrence and Adell Hartgrove both Brunswick, Ga. Carol Morrel of Maryland. Dessie Rogers and Roszon Lawrence both of Ft. Pierce, Fl. Cynthia Baker of Tampa, Fl. Carla McDavid and Erma Gibson both of Ft. Pierce, Fl. Sisters: Daisy Brady & Ruth Chester both of Brunswick, Ga. Brother: Roosevelt Lawrence of Brunswick, Ga. Grandchildren-24; Great Grandchildren-27

Services: Visitation will be 4pm-7pm, Friday, December 9, 2011 at Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 2100 Avienda Ave, Fort Pierce, Fl. A wake service will begin at 6pm-7pm, also at the Church. A Celebration of a Homegoing service will be conducted saturday, December 10, 2011, 11am at Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Ft. Pierce, Fl with the Rev. Walter Barron, officiating. A burial will be in Riverview Memorial Park.

Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Sarah's Memorial Chapel in Fort Pierce, FL.
