This memorial was created in the memory of our beloved Ruby Grant who was born in Los Angeles, California on the 20th of January 1964 and passed away on the 3rd of June 2015, 51 years of age.                                                                                                                 Ruby Laveren Grant was born January 20th 1964 to Walter Ray and Lulubell Grant (nee:Crum). She attended 36th street school, John Adams junior high, and Hamilton high school. She was the 6th of 9 children. As a child Ruby loved kids. She was always seen with one of her nieces or nephews on her hip. It was destined for her to be a mother with all the love she had to give. In 1976 she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy, of whom she named Willie Jerome Richardson. In 1979 she had another bouncing baby boy. She named him Anthony James Washington.                                                                                                                                                             In 1983 she met Lafette DeShone. From this union 7 children were produced. Lafette Jr (preceded her in death), Lance, LaTasha, Jeremy, Larnell, Shanell, and Borantell. In 2001 together they bought a house and piled all the kids in. Ruby was the type of mother who if there was only enough room for her kids to have a room, she made her couch and living room her space. Her kids came first.                                               She worked her self ragged to support her family, even putting her health in jeopardy to see her family happy and comfortable. By any means necessary, her family was gonna be ok. Rubys house was known as a safe haven for anyone who came to her doorstep. She was the "hood" mama. If you were hungry, she'd feed you. If you were homeless, she housed you. She was a GOLDEN HEART.                                             The golden heart has stopped. GOD loved her so much he came and took her home to the glory on June 9th, 2015. She leaves to cherish her AMAZING legacy, her mother, Lulubell Grant. She leaves 8 children, Willie, Anthony, Lance, LaTasha, Jeremy, Larnell, Shanell, and Borantell. She leaves 6 siblings, Jennifer, Kim, Valerie, Raymond, Henrietta, and Ronald. She is preceded in death, her father Walter, an son Lafette, a brother Earl, and one sister Sherry. She also leaves 3 honorary daughters, LaChelle, Latasha(McGrew), and RaLicia.
